Love is…Faithful!

It is easy to be faithful toward the things we enjoy in life such as Working out, watching our favorite shows, or enjoying a Saturday with a hot cup of coffee in our pajamas.

Yet, being faithful when life appears to be against you is a challenging endeavor.

One example of how love is faithful is the story of Noah in the Bible.

Genesis 6:9 says in the New International Version,

“This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God.”

Noah was faithful.

God told Noah to build an ark and he promised that it would rain. Noah continued to build the ark when the weather displayed not even the slightest chance of rain!

Noah’s love for God helped him remain faithful when the rain had not fallen yet. He was faithful despite what people may have said about him, and consistent with his walk with God despite how others on the earth were dishonoring God.

Genesis 7:1-5 reads in the New International Version (NIV),

“The Lord then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation. Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth. Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made.” And Noah did all that the Lord commanded him.”

God promised Noah that rain would come, and Noah remained faithful to completing the ark as God had commanded. ‬‬

Check Your Pulse Moment: See faith is not about what you feel towards a particular thing, faith is a choice to place your complete confidence in something no matter what the outcome may look like.

Noah knew the rain was coming, and he faith that God would bring the rain and protect his family as he promised. Noah’s faith remained in God and he knew God would keep his promise.

Real faith will require you to trust the unknown at times, and it will require you to relinquish your control and rest in knowing that God’s got it!

Love is faithful when it hurts.

Love is faithful when people have talked about you.

Love is faithful toward their enemies.

Love is… Faithful!

As we come to a close of our 4 part series, remember that love is not a mere feeling, it’s a choice.

We choose to love despite any odds that may be against us. We have the power to choose to remain faithful when life brings questions we don’t have the answers to.

If we are to love the way God loves, we need his help! Our frail humanity can’t love the way God desires us to love, without his help!

Love is…God!

Love is…Fearless!

Love is… Hopeful!
